Itinerary

Day 1:     Homeport To Darwin
Join your flight to Darwin and upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the Darwin Hotel.   
Overnight: Palms City Resort, Darwin


 

Day 2:  Afternoon City Tour
Morning at leisure. Enjoy an informative afternoon tour of this tropical northern capital which forms an important trade gateway to Asia, a strategic defence  location and a thriving tourism hub. Named after Charles Darwin, this friendly, multicultural city is brimming with attractions. Visit Cullen Bay and Mitchell Street area, the splendid 34 hectare Darwin
Botanic Gardens. See the elegant colonial architecture of the city's historic buildings that survived the devastation of Cyclone Tracy in 1974. Continue on to beautiful East Point, an area rich in World War II memorabilia. Explore the Stokes Hill Wharf area and wander through the acclaimed Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.

Day 3:         Territory Wildlife Park
This morning travel to the Territory Wildlife Park. This world-class, award-winning park is set in 400 hectares of natural bushland and home for the largest collection of Territory wildlife. Explore the many exhibits including the
nocturnal house, the aquarium with viewing tunnel, bird of prey display and aviaries, the rainforest walk and more. Enjoy a bushwalk or take the train around the park.  You have lots of time to enjoy the surrounds before being transferred back to Darwin at around 1:30pm. Afternoon is at leisure.

Day 4:  Free Day—Optional Tours
A free day to relax and enjoy Darwin to take an option tour to Litchfield, Kakadu or see the Jumping Crocodiles.

A free day to relax and enjoy Darwin to take an option tour.

Day 6  Board the Ghan to Adelaide (L,D)
Today you will be transferred to the Darwin Railway station to board The Legendary Ghan. You will travel down to Katherine and have the option to take a tour to Katherine Gorge (own expense). You then depart for Alice Springs.

Day 7  On the Ghan (B,D)
Today you will arrive in Alice Springs and again have the chance to take one of many an option tours (own expense). You will depart this afternoon for Adelaide.
Overnight: The Ghan
Day 8  Adelaide to homeport (B)
You will arrive into Adelaide around 1:10pm. You will be transferred to the Airport for your flight home.

This Itinerary can be operated in reverse. You would fly to Adelaide and depart on the train at 12:20pm (Flights to arrive prior to 10:30am)

You can extend your tour and make it a 10 night tour and visit Litchfield, Katherine and Kakadu - departs on Mondays

Day 1- Litchfield National Park
Pick up between 6:30 and 7:00 am from Darwin accommodation.  Highlights today will include Magnetic Termite Mounds, the magnificent falls of Tolmer, Wangi and Florence and the truly beautiful Buley Rockhole.  Enjoy lunch and a swim at the falls, before continuing to Katherine via Adelaide River.  Lunch at Monsoons, Wangi Falls. Arrive in Katherine about 5:30pm.
Overnight: Best Western Pine Tree Motel

Day 2 - Katherine
Depart Katherine at approximately 8:00am for a 2 hr Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge cruise. After your cruise, visit the Katherine Museum, then enjoy lunch at Pine Tree Motel. After lunch, take pleasure in a swim at the Katherine Hot Springs before travelling to Springvale Homestead for afternoon tea and a historical tour of the oldest standing homestead in the Territory. Visit other local attractions during the rest of the afternoon before arriving back about 5.00pm.

Day 3 - Kakadu National Park
Depart Katherine at 7:30am for an exciting 2 days in Kakadu. Enjoy the slendour of Edith Falls, a deep pool fringed by pandanus palms and high cliffs, bfore entering Kakadu National Park through the southern entrance via Pine Creek and Mary River. Arrive at Cooinda, home of Yellow Water and take pleasure in the variety of birds, wildlife and crocodiles on a sunset cruise.

Day 4 - Kakadu National Park:
Depart at 7.00am for Nourlanfie Rock, just magic at this time of the morning.  Today will create long lasting memories of Kakadu for you, including Ubirr, Bowali Visitor Centre, Border Store, East Alligator and more .....Arrive Darwin about 5:00pm

Full Day Litchfield National Park (L)
This waterfall wonderland is less than 2 hours from
Darwin. View Florence Falls from a high vantage point then make your way down the stairs to the plunge pool. Move on to the magnificent water cascades of Tolmer and Wangi Falls where you can take in the scenery or enjoy a leisurely swim. The guided walks through the bush and monsoon vine forest areas are as interesting as they are beautiful.

Full Day Kakadu, Nourlangie and Yellow Waters (L)
If you're a little short of time but still want to get a taste of what makes this World Heritage Listed Park so special, this coach tour is for you. Choose from a visit to the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre or a scenic flight (extra $200pp) over Arnhem Land before joining a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong looking for saltwater crocodiles, diverse birdlife and beautiful water lillies. View the ancient Aboriginal rock art at Nourlangie Rock and enjoy drinks at Window on the Wetlands with views over the floodplains. Dinner stop on the way back (own expense)

Half Day Jumping Crocodiles Cruise
Now this is something you don't see every day - jumping
crocodiles. But make no mistake, this is no wildlife park
attraction, these are real crocodiles, in the wild, leaping out of the water while being fed by your local guide. Also visit the Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre for views over the
Marrakai Plains and stop at Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve.
